There are engagement sessions that feel like portraits and then there are engagement sessions that feel like an experience. Allie and Grant’s Brooklyn engagement session was definitely the latter.
Set against the backdrop of New York City on the night of Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the energy throughout the city was impossible to ignore. Every street corner seemed to buzz with anticipation. Restaurants were packed, conversations centered around the game, and the excitement hanging in the air became part of the story we were documenting.
Allie and Grant wanted their engagement session to feel distinctly New York. They were drawn to a mix of timeless city portraits and a grittier urban aesthetic that reflected the character of Brooklyn itself. From busy sidewalks to classic subway platforms, every location felt authentic to the city they love.
One of my favorite parts of the session was photographing them in the subway. The combination of movement, architecture, and raw city energy created images that felt cinematic and uniquely New York. Despite the constant activity around them, Allie and Grant had a way of tuning everything out and focusing completely on each other.
As the evening unfolded, we explored more of Brooklyn's streets and neighborhoods, capturing a balance of elegant portraits and candid moments. The contrast between the city's grit and their connection created a collection of images that felt both stylish and personal.
What stood out most was the excitement surrounding the entire evening. Between the anticipation of the NBA Finals and the energy of New York City itself, there was a sense that something special was happening everywhere you looked. Allie and Grant embraced it all and made the city part of their story.
